Kimono: A Living Tradition of Grace, Harmony, and Renewal
AKIZAKURA is more than a kimono brand.
It is a project dedicated to sharing the beauty, philosophy, and cultural spirit of Japan through authentic kimono, yukata, and meaningful cultural experiences.
At the heart of AKIZAKURA is the Japanese concept of “Re” — the idea of renewal, restoration, and giving new life to what already exists.
For centuries, kimono has embodied this philosophy.
A kimono is carefully crafted by skilled artisans, worn with respect, repaired when needed, and often passed from one generation to the next. Even after its original role ends, it may be transformed into a haori, a parasol, or a small accessory and continue its journey.

Through vintage kimono, haori, upcycled creations, and cultural experiences, AKIZAKURA hopes to share this spirit of care, harmony, and sustainability with people around the world.
We believe that beauty is not found in constant replacement, but in learning to cherish what already exists.
What We Offer
Authentic Kimono & Yukata Experiences
Since 2018, AKIZAKURA has welcomed more than 2,500 international guests through authentic kimono experiences in Japan.
Today, this journey continues in Paris.
All garments used in our experiences are authentic Japanese kimono and yukata, carefully selected from traditional garments made in Japan. Most kimono are made from silk, while our summer yukata are made from cotton.
We offer a carefully selected collection of more than 200 authentic kimono and yukata for women, men, and children. With a wide variety of styles, colors, and sizes, each guest can find a garment that reflects their individuality and feels comfortable to wear.
More than simply wearing traditional clothing, our experiences invite guests to connect with Japanese culture through its aesthetics, seasonal awareness, and spirit of harmony.
By sharing the beauty and cultural significance of kimono in a personal and accessible way, we hope to create meaningful memories and a deeper appreciation of Japan’s living traditions.

Vintage Haori & Kimono
AKIZAKURA offers carefully selected vintage kimono and haori for sale, each reflecting the beauty, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage of Japan.
Many pieces are made from silk and feature traditional techniques, seasonal motifs, and one-of-a-kind designs that cannot be reproduced today.
More than fashion, we see kimono as cultural treasures that connect past and present. Through our collection, we hope to share the beauty of Japanese textiles and the spirit of “Re” — renewal, appreciation, and giving new life to cherished objects.
By helping each garment begin a new chapter with its next owner, we continue the story of these remarkable textiles and the culture they represent.

About Sayoko

Born in Nagano, Japan, Sayoko RODOLPHI YAMAMURA is the founder of AKIZAKURA, a project dedicated to sharing the beauty and cultural spirit of Japan through kimono.
After studying Japanese history at university, she spent many years working in business before discovering a deeper calling in cultural exchange. She became fascinated by the unique ability of kimono to connect people across languages, generations, and cultures.
In 2017, she founded AKIZAKURA and began creating new life for vintage kimono through upcycling and cultural projects. Later, she expanded her work to include kimono experiences for international visitors in Japan, welcoming more than 2,500 guests from around the world.
What began as a passion for kimono gradually became a mission: creating meaningful encounters between people and Japanese culture.
In 2025, AKIZAKURA moved to Paris, where Sayoko continues to share authentic kimono, yukata, and the philosophy of “Re” — renewal, appreciation, and giving new life to cherished things.
For her, kimono is more than clothing.
It is a way to slow down, connect with beauty, and experience a different way of seeing the world.
Through AKIZAKURA, she hopes to help people welcome the quiet beauty of kimono into their lives, enriching everyday moments through culture, elegance, and renewed connection.
